The Purpose of Camp

AF 3rd Ward Young Women will be attending Heber Valley Camp JULY 9th - 13th, 2012.

"Camp is an opportunity for young women to practice patterns of gospel living away from worldly influences and the challenges they may face in their daily lives.Everything we do at camp should help young women come unto Christ by: Confirming their identity as daughters of God. Recognizing and cultivating the Spirit. Keeping baptismal covenants. Preparing for their future roles."-quoted from LDS.org

Service Project

Girl’s Camp Service Project 2012

· In conjunction with Girl’s Camp, we will be participating in a Stake Service Project and invite all young women and leaders to participate.

· We will be creating “I Spy” Lap Quilts (48" x 48).

· In order to complete this project, we invite each girl and leader in the stake to donate 1/4 yard of a printed, cotton material.

· Each person will then write a two-line, “I Spy” rhyme that invites someone to “find” the items on their fabric. For example, if you have a dotted fabric, the rhyme could say something like this:

Before my eyes I see some spots,

Find the brown, blue, and green dots.

If you know how to sew and  would like to help put the quilts together
(could be a Personal Progress Project), please notify Sister Shelley.

Also, if anyone has “Warm and Natural” batting (scraps are OK) or
colorful or unique buttons they would be willing to donate,
we would be able to use them.

To obtain fabric at a discount: Hobby Lobby and JoAnns both have
coupons for 40 - 50% off. Go to their website and print out.
Look for remnants in the discount bin at Walmart and Hobby Lobby.
